My New Toy

Look at my snazzy new Roland V Tour electronic drumset. Ooooooh. Aaaaahh.

Bruce Campbell

Saw him do a Q&A session at Microsoft last week. He was in such cult classic movies as Evil Dead and Army of Darkness. Really funny guy. Check out his web site.

Last of 332

Just finished my last CS332 assignment. At least I think its the last one. If Kevin and Shagoto are lying to me, I'll have to kill them. But otherwise, is nice! Is good!

So True

I give you the following:

Try this thought experiment. A dictator takes over the US and sends all the professors to re-education camps. The physicists are told they have to learn how to write academic articles about French literature, and the French literature professors are told they have to learn how to write original physics papers. If they fail, they'll be shot. Which group is more worried?

I'll give you a moment to think...

If it took you more than a fraction of a second to decide that the French literature professors should be shitting their pants, you need to have your head examined. On the other hand, if you decided that the physics professors are the group which is more worried, well you are just stupid and there is no saving you.

Gary showed the previous quote to me at work. This interesting nugget comes from Paul Graham on this page of his web site. There you will find additional evidence to support my claims above. Explore the rest of his site for other amusing observations.

Wing Music

The last South Park featured a singing Chinese woman with a terrible voice. It turns out she is real (I think), and they used her actual music in the show. Bottom line, when I saw her web site I nearly lost it. Go to her samples page and listen to her rendition of "Dancing Queen" if you want to see (and hear) what I mean.

Diesel Sweeties & Questionable Content

I met the guy who does Diesel Sweeties and the guy who does Questionable Content. They both came do BU yesterday and did a Q&A on what it is like to be web comics. I read Diesel Sweeties regularly but hadn't heard of Questionable Content until yesterday. Verdict: funny guys, good comics.

Chocolate... from Microsoft?!?

Look what I got in the mail today. Microsoft sent me Valentine's Day chocolates (the little sticker in the upper left says "Compliments of Microsoft"). Needless to say, I am amused.

Microsoft Interview

Went on a Microsoft interview on this past Jan. 7. They flew me from Boston to Redmond. The interview went well enough to get an offer.

Acrylic Case, RIP

It's official. The sleek custom computer case I put so much work into has been disassembled and the hardware (mobo, video card, RAM, etc) is being sold. Good riddance I say. The thing was starting to piss me off.
